Purifying Our Oceans Through Sustainable Water Systems

Apr 14, 2023

Making a positive impact on the environment can sometimes feel impossible, but Octo Marine are big believers in making steps forward to a healthier and happier future. Join us as we explore sustainable methods in the way we operate at sea, encouraging a positive difference for the marine life we love.

What sustainable water means to us.  With the average person using approximately 156 plastic bottles per year, the numbers can be overwhelming. We have made it our mission to supply water treatment products and services to superyachts across the globe, to help minimise the yachting industry’s impact on the environment. When you consider on average a superyacht passenger consumes 30 – 100 gallons of water per day, having access to plastic free and ethically sourced water is vital to the conservation of our planet, and specifically our oceans. At Octo Marine, we’re always trying to minimise our impact on the environment and we’re making our mark on the war against plastic in the oceans. We have developed onboard water filtering instruments giving you access to unlimited drinking water without damaging the planet. While both on land and on deck, our ‘Think outside the bottle campaign’ is an initiative that seeks to unite the superyacht industry in a bid to reduce single-use plastics. With an already fragile ecosystem, we’re championing the use of reusable aluminium drink bottles to help prevent any further damage from being inflicted.

Onboard water hygiene and safety

Octo Marine is a team of water purification specialists within the yachting industry, providing high-quality water purification for marine, commercial and domestic applications. We can eliminate the chance of waterborne illnesses by meeting the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) MLC2006 regulations, thus keeping your crew and guests safe onboard your superyacht.

From installing water makers to providing fresh water safety plans, our team has extensive knowledge and is ready to offer any support or assistance you may need. We can supply an extensive range of water maker filters, pumps, chemicals, analysis, spare parts, and accessories for your specific needs.

What we offer

To reduce the amount of plastic waste and keep CO2 impact to a minimum we have designed a slimline drinking water filtration unit allowing our customers to enjoy healthy treated drinking water without any environmental repercussions.

Currently installed on hundreds of yachts and superyachts, our unit delivers clean fresh water through a 5 stage process.

  1. 5 Micron pre-filtration.
  1. Carbon filter for chemical removal for taste and odour enhancement.
  1. Mineral filter to revitalise the minerals.
  1. Bio ceramic Far infrared filter to stimulate blood circulation, activate somatic cells and improve the body’s metabolism.
  1. Ultra-filtration membrane 0.01μ to remove organic and inorganic polymeric molecules, bacteria, viruses, and cysts.

Simply mount the unit in a cupboard and enjoy the benefits of high-quality drinking water.
